Marketing the Waterways
Issued:03/10/07
Waterways Ireland are hosting a Seminar on the Inland Waterways in the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen on the 12th October 2007. The Seminar is part of The Chartered Institute of Marketing Ireland’s, Marketing Week 2007.
The event is open to CIM members & non-members and includes lunch and a scenic boat trip on picturesque Lough Erne and is a unique chance for Marketers from the length and breadth of the country to congregate on the shores of Lough Erne to meet, greet, and network.
The seminar will be lead by Katrina Mc Girr MCIM, Chartered Marketer, Waterways Ireland. Waterways Ireland is the cross-border body set-up to manage the inland navigable waterways principally for recreational purposes. Katrina will explain the work of Waterways Ireland in developing and marketing the inland waterways and the bilateral focus on recreation and tourism which has a unique impact. Katrina has worked for Waterways Ireland for five years following a range of roles including marketing research for the tourism industry based in Brussels, managing Lakeland Country Breaks, a cross border rural tourism company and a number of years as a marketing consultant working in rural tourism and events.
Katrina will be supported by Des Burke Kennedy the Chair of the Media Committee of the International Water Ski Federation. In this role he organizes and promotes a global tour for both Water-skiing and Wakeboarding, one of which has stopped in Enniskillen for 3 consecutive years. Expertise in branding, communications and event management have ensured the continued expansion in both volume of tour stops and levels of sponsorship for the Federation. His extensive career in multi-national companies and his work in TV production, corporate branding and sponsorship in Yacht Racing, Motor Racing and Water-skiing has given Des a rare opportunity to work at a senior level in Marketing and Branding in Europe, the USA, the Middle East, China and Australia.
Attendance to this seminar is in high demand, to register please go to www.cimireland.org or call 028 9066 4020 for further information.
