 SPINNAKERWEB.net RE-LAUNCHED
Posted by admin

SPIWEB FLAGIreland’s premier sailing website has just been re-launched on the worldwide web. The site which caters for the Irish sailing community publishes sailing related news and offers online forums along with other sailing links.

Unique in is position in Ireland, Spinnakerweb.net is modelled on the US ‘Sailing Anarchy’ and was launched in January 2005, since then has grown steadily and has a strong following and active forum community.

The new site promises users more interactive participation with forums, messaging and news article uploads. The site has now integrated wind and tides to the site which allows sailors get wind data for ten Irish ports and daily tide times and heights nationwide.

Popular pages such as gallery and photo requests have been retained while online voting polls have been added which can relate to current articles or independent sailing topics.

The forums section of the website has been integrated into the site, allowing increased security control. This page allows registered users post on all topics sailing. The success of this page has generated great chat especially in southern sailing communities.

Revolutionary in the new design is allowing editors to upload their stories direct to the site. This facility is to allow approved registered users such as class captains and sailing secretaries post articles which will first be approved before publishing. It hoped that this facility will encourage editors to promote their class regattas on a wider media than the typically dormant local class site.

The website plans for 2007 are for increased user participation, continued growth of the online sailing community and aims to attract Irish based sailing related advertisers.
