Owen & Lawton win 2nd race in 470 double handed men’s dinghy

In the doubled handed men’s 470 class Ireland’s Gerald Owens & Phil Lawton lies 9th overall after scoring a 22nd in Race 1 and 1st in Race 3 in their first day of competition.

Owens previously competed in the 2004 Athens Olympics where he placed 10th overall.

France's Charbonnier & Bausset lead this fleet of 29 nations who have qualified to compete in the 2008 Olympic Games.


Meanwhile Tim Goodbody lies 21
st overall after scoring a 17th in Race 5 and 16th in Race 6 today in the Finn class. Zach Railey, (USA) leads at the conclusion of day three. Tomorrow (Tues 12th Aug) is a rest day for Goodbody. Competition in the Finn class resumes on Wed 13th Aug.


Tuesday will see Ciara Peelo begin her competition in the women’s single handed Laser Radial event.
