Colm Barrington and crew aboard TP52 'Flash Glove' go into racing today secure in the knowledge of first place podium finish with two days races to spare. Over the course of the weeks racing the team have built up an unbeatable lead in Class 1, registering three 1st's, two 2nd's and a fourth place finish. This has given the crew, a fifteen point advantage over second position 'Loki'. The crew also won the prestigious 'Britannia Cup', from Wednesdays first place win, the presentation for which takes place this evening in the Royal Yacht Squadron. Its the crews intention to celebrate in style decked out in their unmissable illuminous 'Flash Glove' green shirts.

The Champagne G.H. Mumm Ladies Day Trophy has been won by Gavia Wilkinson-Cox, a competitive sailor for over 40 years and major contributor to the sport of sailing.
Gavia has headed the Sail for Gold Campaign since the 1990s, raising funds and awareness for the sailors of the British Olympic and Paralympic Teams. She continues to fundraise for the next Olympic campaigns in Bejing 2008 and London 2012.
Gavia is also an accomplished Dragon helm achieving remarkable racing success on the international circuit.
The Trophy is in recognition of the outstanding contribution, commitment, or achievement of women in sailing – from the Corinthian sailor and those overcoming difficulties in order to succeed in sailing, to those who have undertaken remarkable challenges.
A simple nomination process has been available on the Skandia Cowes Week website since March, and many nominations were received.
Double Olympic Gold medalist Shirley Robertson,Yachting World’s Elaine Bunting and Cowes Combines Clubs’ Michelle Warner were this year’s judges for the trophy.
The Trophy was awarded at a reception at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club. The event was attended by top female sports personalities including Dame Ellen MacArthur, Dee Caffari, Heptathlon Kelly Southerton, Powerboat champion Shelley Jory, Three-Day eventer Mary King, Polar explorer, Ann Daniels and BBC sports presenter, Clare Balding.
