RNLI Lifeboats "Sailing by the Lee" Lunch with Brad Butterworth
Posted by admin

Four-time America’s Cup winner, Brad Butterworth, OBE, will address delegates at the Maryborough House Hotel, Douglas, Cork on Friday the 1st February, 2008. This event will continue the exceptional work of the late Michelle Dunne who arranged a series of sell-out fundraising lunches for the local RNLI Lifeboat branches. It will be held in her memory and proceeds therefrom will be applied to the pending Kinsale RNLI Lifeboat Station,

...currently in the planning stages, for which Michelle campaigned untiringly and fearlessly. Previous high profile speakers under Michelle’s charge included Ron Holland, Roy Disney and Bruno Troublé.

Best known as the tactician & skipper for the Swiss Alinghi team, winners of the America’s Cup in 2003 in Auckland and more recently on 3 July this year in Valencia, Spain, Brad Butterworh was born in Te Awamutu, NZ in 1959. He crewed aboard New Zealand’s first America’s Cup campaign in Fremantle and boasts a remarkable unbeaten run of 16 wins in AC racing dating back to 1995. He was watch captain on Steinlager II and won the 1989-90 Whitbread Round the World Race.

Tickets for this unmissable event are on sale now on a strictly first come-first served basis. Tables of 10 secured for €500 or €60 per individual. Please contact Susie Elliott at
susie.kinsale@gmail.com or 087-9183337 for reservations & enquiries.

The RNLI is a registered charity that saves lives at sea.  It provides an on call 24-hour lifeboat search & rescue service as a web of protection around the coast of Ireland and the UK.  RNLI Lifeboats rely entirely on charitable donations.
